God bless WR

One of the reasons I bought into pentax was WR - and not having to worry too much about using the camera in the rain. Just back from a week on the Isle of Arran with spectacular weather (good and bad ), and I certainly got value from the WR. I make no great claims for these snaps - but without the WR I'd have had nothing from this day.

All taken in conditions of gentle to not-so-gentle rain with the WR50-200 kit lens.

Currently wading through all the other photos I took last week using Lightroom. Hopefully I might even dig out a few keepers...

Similar conditions to those in the west of Victoria along the coast Tim. It's a good feeling being able to keep your gear out and use it there in confidence.

Northgrain, you are not going to benefit and/or learn/improbve if the only feedback you get is "nice shots".
So here is my tuppenceworth (if you are interested otherwise ignore me).

#1 I would delete
#2 I would propably delete.
You should use the wider angle lens for landscape.
#3 Is a lot better but I would loose some of the foreground by cropping it away to leave a thin strip of grass and the emphasis on the birds which are quite interesting.
They are nice and sharp and you have captured the wing movement without any blur. Well done on this shot!

It's not about what kit I've got, its about having the knowledge to use it to maximum potential.

Tim, it looks like one of our family holidays....I agree that it's great to be able to shoot images in all conditions. The colours and quality of the light become quite different and it's well worth exploring.
Best regards, John

I think you should take PentaxExpert's advice . . . and ignore his first two comments, at least.

Given the conditions, these are 'nice shots' considering that they are a permanent record of part of a holiday that you would otherwise not have if you a: hadn't taken them, or b: deleted them.

The best shots are often take when the weather is on the turn, about to change for better or for worse.
I use a wide angle lens far too much for landscapes. It's refreshing to see the "squashed" perspective here.
I do like the flight of oyster-catchers.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Yup - just snaps... and your point is exactly the one I wanted to make in my OP .

But confusingly given his track record, PentaxExpert's comments seem on-the-money. Does this actually mean #1 should be my first PPG entry :
