Gigrin in poor light

A couple of weekends ago I was at Gigrin but the light was awful, it was even trying to rain. A lot of my mates just didn't bother to take photos but I had my K-5 and a my FA*300mm, and after looking at the feuding heron's thread link a few days before I stuck it in TAv mode and was shooting at ISO3200. It did ok, these images have been cropped and had some NR applied:

I even pushed it to ISO6400

Exceptionally well done in challenging conditions.

Nice shite-hawks! These look good to me, I particularly like the second. You could possibly clone out the smallest OOF bird. Oh and the plumage on the first is especially well captured too.

Amazing considering 3200ISO.... the light actually looks very nice and soft.... good job you gave it a shot.... so to speak!

The colour and detail of the bird in no.1 is superb.

On September 2nd this year I dropped in at Gigrin and wondered if I could get some decent shots in awful light with my K10d and my old m42 400mm lens - major fail on my part

Having reviewed these shots I have to admit to being very impressed - well done

I went back in better light the next day, though at this time of year even hazy cloud can kill the Shutter speed by 2pm.

Fantastic results, I bet your mates are envious.
