Ghosts on photographs

This subject always makes my hair stand on end. When taking pictures of people or landscapes, there's nothing there except when you print it out or begin to smarten them, then you might see something that was definetly not in the pictures.

Here's some links to spooks in photo's, Click if you dare...

http://paranormal.about.com/od/ghostphotos/ig/Best-Ghost-Photos/The-Ghost-of-Boo... who is standing in the grass behind the re-enactor?

Reminds me of when my local paper (the Wiltshire Times) published some holiday photos taken by a reader that "quite clearly" showed some spooky white fuzzy objects (a bit like some UFO shots I have seen, well Wiltshire is UFO country).
They were also quite clearly the result of dust on the sensor - the sizes and positions were the same from shot to shot.
I think that most of the links AuraTodd has provided could have a more normal (as opposed to paranormal) explanation.
Two could be a person "out of shot" who moves during the time of fully operating the release.
One looks very much like the effect of a high-mounted spotlight.
One really does look like a double exposure.
That leaves one.

The Lady concerned 'lives' in Keddleston Hall in Derbyshire

Seriously though, if you put your camera on a tripod and set it for say 15sec exposure @f16 (may also need a ND filter depending on ambient light) you shouldn't have too much difficulty getting 'ghostly' figures

I would love to see a ghost, I was going to add "in real life" but that would be a poor choice of words

It's good to see your delving into what's out there Louise, looking at other photographers work is an excellent way of improving your understanding of what makes a good image and in turn should help you gain experience and develop your own style.

I have seen two, they looked like normal human beings. My great grandmother was clairaudient and i think I have it too. I didn't mention it because people might take it the wrong way.

Some people might say it's double exposure which is understandable, but how do you explain the man in the grass at Boot Hill standing behind the re-enactor?

How about these creepy ones?

I think they're all fakes, and if you think it can't be done then your'e wrong, the Cottingley Fairies are a classic example of fake photo's.
