can folk PM me their tempting offers with any incidental info please (shutter count, condition etc)

My son has a K50, purchased from this group.
Is the K5 better or is the k50 just a newer lighter iteration of the K5 with some functions missing???

K-5 is significantly different to the K-50

K-7, K5, K-5ii or KiiS, K-3, K-3ii were all flagship pentax DSLR bodies at some point (so K-7 was the flagship years ago)

They all have the metal camera body, higher life expectancy (shutter actuation), silent shutters and other features to set them apart (such as AA filterless, better sensor, 14bit raw)

Hello

For what it's worth, I went from a K100d Super to a Kr. As great as the Kr is, I missed the top plate lcd of the K100d. That top plate made changing settings on the fly very easy.

I then bought the K5iis, the lcd returned along with more controls and a seemingly bullet proof body.

Never been happier!

Thanks for messages folk.

Haris has successfully tempted me and so I restart my adventure into photography and will see how it works out. My previous adventure was with Minolta 35mm film camera and a Yashicamat 124G (which I still have gathering dust) and seemed to cost a lot of monies for lenses etc. Will this end up going the same way in a year so????

The golden rule previously seemed to be that the lens on the camera was never wide/long enough and, even if you had one in the bag there was never time to change it, and also there were always better (or more desirable) cameras around than the one I owned . . . .

He's right. If you're into the photography then the camera and lens in your hand are the only bits of equipment you need.

If, like me, you enjoy trying new things, then you're never going to be able to settle. If you've heard of it, I've used it (and then sold it or moved it on). And I'll be honest, any lens can capture a brilliant image. If you really want a good lens, get yourself a nice standard zoom like the 18-135 or 16-85 (or even a Sigma or Tamron 17-50) and just snap images of everything.

Many thanks Haris, your KS2 has arrived. Its a lovely piece of kit and very well packaged.

I can see that this interesting, capable piece of kit will get me going again in the world of photography

hmm. I wonder, will my wife accept the argument that as I am not buying film and processing it then i can spend some of that money on new lenses in the future?????
