I have noticed lately that in a lot of replies, members are asking new posters to fill in their location. Why is this so important?

It's cos we're all nice! Sometimes if I know someone is living close enough, I can offer to help by letting them come round and actually trying it out!

It's also good to know where you are so we can recommend things like local camera shops, locations to shoot etc.

Also knowing which part of the world you are from is interesting, as although we are a UK based forum, we have members from all over the world, so sometimes some replies are not relevant due to location.

Hello Kerrodown, you a Scotsman and you don't know what furry boots is refering to

According to "Eggheads" on BBC2, furry boots is a name for Aberdeen due to the locals asking, "whereabouts are ye from?"

PS; I didn't know about furry boots either, but I'm a yorkshireman and have enough trouble remembering what my own slang means.

Substitute 'frae' instead of 'from' and you are getting close, you a 'Quine' or a 'Loon' ?

When people ask me where I come frae, I usually say Bentos.

( you need to Scot's to get that one )

Apart from the obvious answer (see above ), we're a nosey bunch.

Plus there's not a lot of point in suggesting someone calls in at a certain shop in the UK if they live in Australia, Malaysia, Argentina or Ethiopia. (Or in Holland, Canada or the US for that matter!)
