It's possible I suppose that they arrange meetings in secret places, avoiding any online references that could spread too easily, and bring along their FF compatible lenses to compare whilst discussing the reasons for the FF release time-frame.

Except that... This was by Pentax reps. The same Pentax display area where the Pentax full-frame body was seen by the general public, but under glass. During that time at least two dozen people were permitted hand inspection of the item.I don't go with what DOZENS of people said, I don't know why you emphasize DOZENS - but if DOZENS of people told you they saw aliens in the same room would you believe it?
I'm sure there is a 3d printed representation already out there somewhere, but... At that trade show (and by Pentax reps) it was an actual Pentax full-frame prototype, not the 3d printed model. Everything about the camera was real except that it did not have the sensor.
Also, let's assume the release date for the Pentax full-frame body is between February 25th (as I've already clearly stated MONTHS ago) or perhaps even as far as what is being stated as Spring 2015 - so let's give them March 25th... Then further along the line prototypes do already exist, perhaps with a much different sensor to be easily switched out until the final prototype appears.
When it does come time that the three month out barrier is reached... I assure we'll be reading an official spec sheet about it from Pentax, it will also be a not much different body style from the exact prototype as already witnessed - sure everything is subject to change.
Might I also add in... Take a guess where the Pentax full-frame will be being built at? Also, no matter which sensor is used, the "assembly line" (for lack of a better terminology) will also show as being ramped up for the initial Pentax full-frame release.
Also interesting that, it would be beyond assumption that... B&H should have an exact release date and specs on the camera rather soon

You forgot the larger viewfinder

Sorry but I really don't understand this mentality that Pentax have to build and sell something because other manufacturers do.
We'd have zero choice if everyone made the same thing now wouldn't we? It simply would not matter which brand we bought because they all make the same things. No-one needs shelves full of lenses, if you can't get by with 4 or 5 then there's a problem somewhere else because it certainly isn't the lens that holding you back.
It's also completely ridiculous to say "they cant be bothered to release it" as if they have spent the R&D time then gone to the trouble of manufacturing at huge costs a lens only to come to the point of saying "Oh**** it, can't be bothered releasing it - bored with it now"

Quite. In any event, the 70-200mm f/2.8 only really comes into its own when the FF camera is available to use it on.

And if you read the reviews of the Canon and Nikon 70-200 f4 variants the verdict is that for a fraction of the price you get a lens that is as good as the 2.8 Mk2s, they only lack the tripod foot (that's where Canikon aftermarket has a laugh) and 2.8....Quite. True. If we really wanted a 70-200mm f/2.8 it's also worth remembering that we already have one. The equivalent lens for APS-C format is 50-135mm.

Come on everyone, don't be fooled by the images...it's the same 3d-printed facsimile that was shown a few months ago. So what if you can see the mount? they have to find a way of attaching the lens,....
There are much better images of this prototype camera already out there from most every angle one could possibly imagine.
Such as: Base of camera showing tripod connection, battery lid (fully functional), including but not fully showing some of the connections for what appears to be a different battery grip.
As I've clearly stated well before this announcement came out. The world will not see a sales floor ready model Pentax full-frame camera body until at least February 25th next year. At that exact time everyone will have already been shown each and every spec for the camera body. As for the EXACT release date, it would also depend upon which sensor they elect to use.
As for sensor... Sure I've heard the statements (actually literally nothing more than rumors) that a Sony full-frame sensor will be used. IF Pentax remains on that path, the price point would be quite reasonable. But also noting more recent developments in sensor technology... That Pentax could very well be considering a 50+ mp sensor, much like what is out for (presently) at least two Canon model full-frame cameras, and also quite similar to what will soon be released Nikon flagship models.
I also don't go with rumours either - I will believe what I see when I see the camera for sale....but I am not convinced by any of the images.. for the camera to sell in good numbers it has to have the same sleek lines as the D610 and 6D, and not resemble the 67
