Well I know what I want and something like the D3 would do me just fine, I really don't have a need for more than 10MP my needs are full frame coverage and far better DR than the current crop of APS DSLR are capable of. Increasing sensor density ad infinitum isn't going to produce better photographic tools and at some point the market will realize and will halt the manufacturers. There seems to be an awful lot of people that are very happy with their D3s and I'm not surprised.
I don't know what Pentax will do in the future (and I'm pretty sure they have only a vague idea at this point ) but I wouldn't discount the potential of a full frame offering before the turn of the decade given new developments in sensor production. Before they outpace Nikon, Pentax should be the first victim Btw, it is only prototype, until it is released still a long way to go. Remember the K1D?
