The figures for the sensor don't seem to add up. The dimensions given don't give us a 43mm diagonal do they?
Best regards, John

Not worth it unless you've got some old K-M glass twiddling it's thumbs in a cupboard somewhere.

So you didn't mean a word of it? Great, progress at last.

George: I was over in your part of the world at the start of this week. Unfortunately I didn't have much time for sightseeing however I did have time for a lesuirely drive round the TT circuit.
Shame you didn't have longer - and better weather.

But I hope you had time for a nice pair of Manx kippers, and a plate of Queenies.

Didn't you say once that you bought many of them prior to the release - which never happened - of the MZ-D?
Indeed I did.

No affordable digital camera has lasted for very long so far, and it's not because they are mediocre; it's because technology has been moving very fast.

I don't think you will ever get a D3 in K-mount. First, you will never get a 24x36 sensor in K-mount (anti-shake won't allow it, and the lenses are largely discontinued), and second, Pentax does not have the market for a high-end pro camera (unless they re-launch the D645 project, where they already have a suitable mount and the lenses to go with it).

But at one time you would have been satisfied with the MZ-D. Now you want something much more sophisticated. You're not an easy man to satisfy.
Well I know what I want and something like the D3 would do me just fine, I really don't have a need for more than 10MP my needs are full frame coverage and far better DR than the current crop of APS DSLR are capable of. Pretty basic really, no SR (who needs it when you can have real speed through usable high ISO with good DR) but more dependable AF would be a welcome addition.

Increasing sensor density ad infinitum isn't going to produce better photographic tools and at some point the market will realize and will halt the manufacturers. There seems to be an awful lot of people that are very happy with their D3s and I'm not surprised.

I don't know what Pentax will do in the future (and I'm pretty sure they have only a vague idea at this point ) but I wouldn't discount the potential of a full frame offering before the turn of the decade given new developments in sensor production. How patient I remain with Pentax is yet to be seen, in the interim I'll continue to bless you with my wisdom

From Sony: "It's going to be a full frame 24.6MP CMOS model with Super Steady Shot stabilization, and it's coming this year."

I can see Nikon being relegated to third place at some point in the not too distant future if Sony continue at this pace.

Before they outpace Nikon, Pentax should be the first victim Btw, it is only prototype, until it is released still a long way to go. Remember the K1D?
