I remember now- the 16-45 rates highly on DxO with my camera.

Having owned both, and much as I liked the 16-45, in my view Mac the Tamron is a better lens.

I was thinking of the fact that I mainly shoot buildings and that the Pentax has a flatter focus plane than the Tammy- sharper from corner to corner.
I have the 12-24 for the wide end- and the plastic 35 and 50 which I love.
Do you think the Tammy is still better?

[/quote]I had both at the same time, and once I had the Tammy and used it regularly the 16-45 went. The Tammy suited me better, and I felt it was way sharper across the frame. Plus the f2.8 meant it came in handy in darker situations. Thanks Andrew

At the end of the day however, it is down to personal choice Mac and there may well be other users who disagree with my interpretation.

+1! The Tammy is much sharper across the frame - at f4 it spanks the 16-45mm, and I think it's pretty sharp wide open at f2.8 as well.
I had both at the same time, and once I had the Tammy and used it regularly the 16-45 went. The Tammy suited me better, and I felt it was way sharper across the frame. Plus the f2.8 meant it came in handy in darker situations.

Looking to sell a DA 21 ltd with obvious wear on the barrel but perfect optics, Push cap and rear cap incl. Bought here very recently. Say £250 incl RMSD
Tamron Di 90mm Macro- with caps and bag- £280 icl RMSD
Tamron 17-50 2.8- non VC- very tiny scratch to the front element- no difference to the photos! Tammy hood and front and rear cap incl. £140 incl RMSD
