I have an excellent condition Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 85mm f1.8 with original caps and metal hood. Focus is beautifully smooth, aperture is responsive, coatings are very good (some minor marks), optics are clear (some minor dust, as expected for its age).

If anyone is interested I can add some images but it will be sent of to another place (at a much higher price) in a few weeks if not sold here.

Price: £185 plus P&P

UK sale only

There is a small speck of black paint missing on the filter ring, there are some cleaning marks - but the overall coatings are pretty good - some minor dust!

The photos are taken with one of my Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50mm f1.4 8 element lenses coupled with a 12mm extension tube.

John, do you know if the 1.9 and 1.8 versions are significantly different?

Both have a good reputation but the 1.8 tends to be favoured for better contrast and some prefer the bokeh - I've owned several copies of both and was always happy with the results. I believe the optical formula of the f1.8 was carried forward to the K series 1.8 which IMO is superb.

Pentax haven't made a poor 85mm though - some have improved qualities over others but they are all very capable

It's taken me a while to get around to posting as I'm currently in Edinburgh and on holiday visiting places and people, but I wanted to report that John's 85mm Takumar was received very well packed and in excellent condition. It is now being very much enjoyed and put to use photographing all sorts, but especially around the coast.
