Hi George, just joined the forum to view this post but i have plnety of rep on pentaxforums.com and ebay. Could you post a picture from the 70-200mm, and do you notice much difference between the SDM drive and the screw drive focussing?

Hi Callum,
Welkome to the forum.
The AF is a little bit faster and on my K-5 absolutely precise, but is noisier. I do prefer the AF of DA*300. Not to compare even to the rest of the DA* lenses.
A few snap shots. Resized, hand held, JPEG, No post processing.

Hi George, great pics! Haha, yeah well I woudln't really expect the poor thing to stand up to the DA*. it's either this, or save some more funds and go for the DA* 60-250mm. I'll assess the funds and get back to you within 2-3 days

Hi Callum,
I am afraid that I wasn't clear enough.
I mean that the DA*300 is not to compare to the rest.
I am keeping the DA*50-135 because of the weight and the min. focusing distance. The Sigma is build mush better. The 50-135 is like a toy compared to the Sigma, but growing old I am learning to accept the plastic.

George

Those are some excellent snaps with the Sigma. I have not used myself, but from what I read it is a solid performer, comparable to lenses like Canon 70-200/2.8.

Would like teleconvertor but sigma list it as incompatible with 120-400 drooling over 300
