The in lens OS provides a stable image in the viewfinder. At long focal lengths I find this makes a massive difference. Although it is at the expense of increased battery usage, its what I use every time.
According to the specs in lens OS is not available for Sony and Pentax mounts...

•Optical stabilization compensates for camera shake (not available on Sony & Pentax mounts)

PM on it's way Cliff.
Cheers
Brian.

Another small point the lens that Cliff has is the latest one with the smooth finish not the rubberised one that tended to peel and show every finger mark.

My apologies, it appears the Sigma US site is not up to date which is really bad from a big corp like sigma.

Here's the spec from Sigma Japan....

Corresponding AF Mounts

SIGMA / CANON / NIKON (D) / SONY (D) / PENTAX

* Nikon and Pentax mount lenses do not have an aperture ring.
* PENTAX SFX and SF7 cannot be used.
* For Pentax and Sony mount, it is not possible to use AF and the stabilizer function (OS) when attaching to film SLR, Pentax ist* series and K100D DSLR cameras. When the OS function of lens body is used, please turn the stabilizer function of camera body off.
* This lens cannot be used with film SLR cameras with the exception of the Nikon F6 and Canon EOS-1v.
Cheers
Brian.

Please don't rush to eBay, have you considered a price for both together (I won't be offended if you say add the above together).

Would you be interested if I did Mike ?
sorry can't pm as I've only just joined.

Yes absolutely I'd bite your hand off BUT irritatingly this is about a month too early for me as I first need to sell some lenses myself and wait for some further income to reach my bank account. It's a crying shame and I feel gutted as I just said to myself a week ago if I could round off my current lens collection at sensible cost these two lenses would be the ones I would choose.

as a recent lens seller myself I know what I'd do which is to sell to anyone who can come up with the money now so I'm not much help in practice. Pls pls pm me if you'd like to discuss off-forum.
