FS: Pentax SMC A 400mm f5.6

Pentax SMC A 400mm f5.6 with caps and original hard case - Very Good

Optically Very good - there is some mild dust on the inner elements (almost impossible to show) but this appears to have no notable effect on images.

Cosmetically Very Good - light silvering in some areas.

Mechanically Excellent - Clean, snappy aperture. Nice, smooth focus action.

I've used quite a few 400mm lenses over the years and in terms of value for money (cost for IQ) this lens is by far the best. The M series equivalent is IMO not a patch on this lens, and the Sigma 400mm lens although cheaper don't match the IQ. The FA*400 is a better lens for me, mainly due to shorter min focus distance and AF, but is quite rare and usually 4 to 6 times the price.

If anyone is interested I can add some photos of the lens, in the meantime here are a few images taken with the lens...

Cropped, ISO1600, F10 @ 1/800 - if you look at the larger image on Flickr you can see that the optics are good enough to capture the "strings" too
