Hi guys,

Here's my Pentax D-FA* 70-200mm f/2.8 DC AW lens for sale in pretty much as new condition. I bought it (2nd hand) for the IQ but I'm selling it due to the weight which means it probably won't get the use it deserves. I've only really tested it indoors so the lens itself is in amazing condition. The one issue to note is the hood which took a bit of a bump at some point and has a small crack near the polarising filter window (which I've mended). Other than that, it's in fabulous shape.

In terms of IQ, it's outstanding from wide open. There's contrast and bokeh galore. Stopped down, it's even better. The focusing is silent and quick. Check out the reviews to find out more. The weight is significant for me so make sure you do your research! You might find the DA* 60-250mm a better match for your K-1 (with slight vignetting) if you're looking to carry the lens for long periods of time.

The lens comes boxed with caps, hood and soft carry case.

I'm looking for £1100 + PnP for the lens. Pics to be added later, thank you for looking!

Haris! your timing is awful! Between the times of my trip to Cuba and Black Friday I had to go with what was available.... one week earlier I would have bought your lens rather than the FA*

Not that I am regretting buying the FA* though.........

yet I am still taking the DA*......

Sorry haha, I added the listing to my other post a couple of weeks ago but it wasn't so clear. And I also did you a favour since there's no way you'd want to carry this beast on holiday. You need a golf cart just to handle your kit when its in the camera bag

Interesting what you say about the weight, that is the one issue holding me back from getting one; still undecided.

I'm not really in any massive rush to sell it so it's worth just making it really clear for anyone interested - the weight must be considered.

My main reflection on the weight issue revolves around attaching it to a neck/shoulder strap to reduce the stress on the mount. I've not really had a 'heavy' lens before (DA300, DA60-250 are my heaviest otherwise) so I don't own any specialist heavy lens straps. If I am to take this lens on an outing, I'll probably handhold it (and camera) if I'm using it. I won't be able to let it hang off my shoulder since I'd have to buy into a completely different system such as BlackRapid.

I have attached two Peak Design quick release catches between the camera strap and body. The Pentax strap is removed when I attach the 150-450mm lens and replaced with a Peak strap which is attached to one of these and the other end to a Peak base clip in one of the tripod holes in the lens foot. Hence both camera body and lens are supported and I can confidently sling the assembly over one shoulder. As there are two tripod holes in the lens foot the other can be used for a monopod screw attachment but unfortunately there isn’t room for a QR tripod plate. As the 150-450mm weighs 2.5 kg and is quite bulky I don’t carry any other lenses at the same time so I need to make the choice first; often of course an unexpected opportunity occurs when I wish I had made a different choice!

The 70-200mm weighs 2kg so probably would go in a bag with one or two others, and the strap arrangement above would work ok on it as well.

PS I rotate the lens foot 90 degrees so the assembly hangs close to my body and the camera strap attachment isn’t pulled in an awkward direction.

Bump - I've got interest on eBay for £1220 posted so I'll offer anyone on these forums £1075 posted.

I'll be losing out on a bit of money but it's a lot safer to sell on here!
