Don't cry Andrew - This one might be listed for quite a while, the DA 35mm is available for not much more new and has the advantages of AF and Digital Optimisation!
It's the "old school" shooters who like the solid, mechanical feel of the older, under-rated 'A' series lenses that are more likely to be tempted - I have only 3 reasons for parting with it: My eyes and a Hens Tooth that I just bought

Anyone looking to buy lenses at the moment should be favouring those with full-frame coverage over DA lenses, that's all I'm saying

Absolutely, then you can use them on your old 35mm film cameras!

I've been asked for some sample shots taken with this lens, so here's a few shot in the garden after work tonight...
1. f2.8 1/320

2. f9.0 1/60

3. f2.8 1/1600

4. f2.8 1/1600 cropped of no.3 to show the level of detail captured even at maximum aperture

5. f7.1 1/2500 - to show flare control

All shot in RAW, converted to jpg in Picasa with default recommended sharpening and a little bit of fill-light. I really haven't mastered resizing to retain anything like the original quality, but I think these give a fair "feel".
The sideways shots show up better if you click on them and see the image on flickr
