Front Focus Issue

Hi Chaps,
On my newly aquired K-7, my Sigma 30mm EX DG front focuses by approx' 2cm when wide open (f1.4) at min focus distance (40cm).

My question is this. When used at more realistic distances, say 2m, will the front focus error remain at 2cm or will the error be exagerated by increased distances between subject and image plain?
Cheers,
Gene Stevo.
(BTW, yes I have seen the correction option in custom settings, thanks anyway).

I would expect the error to be proportional to the distance focused. You could always try it. Set the camera up on a tripod pointing at a wall at 45 degrees, make a chalk mark where you can focus the camera, then see where the actual image is focused upon. That should work enough to give you an idea of what will happen at realistic distances.

When you say you've seen the correction option, does that mean you've tried it and it doesn't work enough for this lens, or just that you're aware of it? If it's the latter, try correcting the lens, and if it works, don't worry about it anymore.

Hi Dan,
I've used the correction option and at the max adjustment of -10 it's almost right but it's still a bit hit and miss.
If it turns out that the error remains the same whatever the subject distance then indeed I'll stop worrying about this issue and find something else to worry about.
Thanks for your promp advice Dan, enjoy the rest of your day.
Cheers,
Gene Stevo.
