It's a lovely area isn't it? You've caught some lovely warm early light on the 'white' rocks. I like the windswept foreground in the first shot, and the 2nd pointy rock is a classic! The lens has coped well with the one into the sun; did you have to process it much to bring out the foreground detail?

Another very nice set Nigel. I'm not quite sure about the third stack coming into the right of number 2, otherwise I like the compositions and the wonderful rich colours. My pick of the bunch is number 3.
Cheers.

Thankyou Philip & Alfie. It is indeed a very rewarding area for photography, and I can't wait to get back there again next summer.
Philip, the 3rd stack on the right edge of No 2 is actually the main cliff edge - I could have framed it out but there wasn't enough breathing room between it and the 'pointy' one I felt.
Alfie, the short answer to your question about processing 'much' is ... 'not much at all' ..... I assume you are thinking about a lot of shadow lifting. This was not needed at all because the image is a blend via PS layers of two different exposures - one for the sky and one for the foreground. The sky one had a completely black foreground, and the foreground one had a totally blown sky. But the foreground was exposed mainly for the highlights on the cliff edge with only a tiny bit of shadow lifting as it was very dim actually.
Thanks again both for your interest

It certainly looks a very attractive area, Nigel. From this very nice set, I particularly like the first one - the sun on the cliff face has a lovely warming effect. The same applies to no. 4, but I find the grassy cliff top in the foreground and left too intrusive - it dominates the picture for me.

Thanks John, the early light was key here of course. In August it starts out very warm like in these ones but climbs rapidly and the quality changes quickly, so I found a series of similar shots ended up with very different lighting tones. The angle of the 4th has proved difficult really to get right ... It's a magnificent scene but hard to translate within a photo framing I've found ... With the rocks on the right it's hard to strike a balance of foreground, something on the left also, and the vast open space.

3 and 4 for me, Nigel. Lovely colours remind us of that great summer.
Best wishes,
Andrew

Thanks Gary. I haven't tried many into the sun shots, and the DR here was very high. I have kept it under control by holding the sky brightness down and I like the result here. I've got a number of differing exposures though, so I could probably produce a result that looked like any time during the dawn and sunrise period. I might post a different version here soon.
