Its a very nice composition Alistair, classical really Give me a bit more room on the right side and I'd be even happier (I think you could easily have lost a couple of trees on the left to give more on the right - a shunt of viewpoint leftwards would keep that little 'islet' in the right spot). But it's beautiful - everything sits with a real poise and balance.
Its crying out for colour though! Please, lets see it in glorious muted soft colour tones.

Cheers Nigel
Didnt like the colour at all....
Had to cut out the right hand side because there was an ugly big advertising hording!
I will play with the colour version and maybe a post something in the near future.
Glad you like

Hmmm, I'd suggest a little saturation boost! OK - there wasn't much colour in there - but really, it is better I think, softer looking. I'm sure you could bring out some more tones - Sagelight 'Pro Vibrance'?

im getting in the habit of under exposing all my single shots.
Unfortunately no colour to speak of in this one!

I don't think there's any point in trying for colour in this shot, it would not pay any dividends and I think the overall look and subject matter is perfect for a mono shot.
I like the under-exposure approach, but it's maybe gone a bit too far in this image? It's always best to expose for the highlights, but I think it's essential to retain some shadow detail, except in circumstances where obtaining silhouettes is the objective.
Regards
David

Mono for me too.
The light on the water really makes it for me. This is much more interesting in the mono version and I don't think the colour adds anything to the picture.
Sometimes real life is drained of colour and mono can show the light best.

Alistair, how about this one - can this colour version compete? Sagelight Pro Vibrance, Polariser and some deep shadow recovery / bright highlight reduction.
