From near to far with Tamron

It's been a Tamron day today - which meant taking off the Tamron 17-50 which normally sits on my camera and replacing it first with the 70-300 for the morning dog-walk (this lens is ridiculously good value), and then with my 500/8 mirror lens coupled with the (also Tamron) 1.4X Pz AF teleconverter. The results:

I'd been hoping for some wildlife in the park this morning, but nothing much doing - hence the plantlife instead (plus a bug or two). The mirror lens + TC combo did a pretty decent job of the moon though - definitely a viable combination for reasonably static objects (with no nasty background to provoke the doughnut bokeh).

Cheers,

Jon

That tele-zoom clearly does provide plenty of bang per buck! I like the silky smooth OOF backgrounds, and that tiny fly on the 1st looks so real, almost 3D. Its good to see brightly-lit flowers correctly exposed as well - ie: brightly!

I have an unused Tamron 70-300mm for sale in the classifieds, but after seeing what it can do I may just keep it.
Lovely photos, even to the point my wife took an interest.

I've been thinking about getting a Tamron 70-300, you might just have persuaded me.

Nice shots. I don't have the Tamron 70-300, I got the Sigma version instead at the time. I wish I got the Tamron TBH, as it is a very good lens. Having said that the Pentax 55-300 is better, but you cannot use it on FF.

Thanks all for nice feedback everyone - and for those who would like a reasonable and good value telezoom with more reach than the 50-200, I think you can't go too far wrong with the Tamron. It does suffer from fringing on occasion, but nothing that bothered me on the shots above, and nothing that can't easily be dealt with in Lightroom.

It's true, for the first moment i thought it was on my screen.

I love the dandelion. i tried it a few times but never could capture it as good as this.
