What is it about Pentax users?

They are just sooooooooo friendly.

Everyone here just seems so nice and willing to help.

I have been on a few slr forums recently and they are just so bitchy, snobby and downright unpleasant. (talkpho***raphy cough cough)

I've noticed that Pentax (as a brand) seems to appeal more to photographers than gear-heads.

As we can't spend all day bragging about having the fastest AF, the most FPS, the highest ISO or the biggest sensor we tend to fall back on that old quaint hobby of taking pictures instead.

Then we like to seek out like-minded picture takers and share our experiences so that we all get more enjoyment from our hobby. I think some (not all) forums forget that it's supposed to be about having fun and instead treat photography like some kind of competitive sport where winning is everything and those with the most (and latest) gizmos must be venerated.

Even if the Internet didn't exist I'd still use Pentax because of the wonderful quality / value ratio and the awesome ergonomics, however, the fact that Pentax users seem among the nicest people on the web is a nice added bonus.

I reckon its because those on other forums dont know how or when to use smilies and offence is easily taken if a jest doesn't come over as intended.
Having said that there are the occasional folk who take offence even when something is obviously intended light heartedly, I may be guilty of causing such offence myself regarding a certain Samsung v Pentax topic

On the other hand the people on these other forums may be just a bunch of morons (note the lack of a smiley)

Lots of forum-member totally lack communication skill!! It's really amazing to see how often people start bitching because of misunderstandings etc. And when the ball is rolling then nobody is prepared to admit they might have implied something in a message that was never there in the first place. It has happened here once or twice ... In this kind of internet-communications, if a message can possible be misunderstood be sure someone will.

(If communication above don't come across to you, it's because English is not my first language)
Edit: Grammar!!

Hi Joe,

I'm afraid you've just described world history.

By the way your English is fine!

Cheers,
