I just cant tell my girl, that "maybe I will post another, if I get a better one." So no sense of waiting even if I get sth better

Working in London on the day of the G20 protests, I walked past police lines, riot police and police vans, but took no pictures.
I had forgotten that there was a police station just down from where I took this picture, until a police van pulled up and sat there. This represents my reflection on the police and how they dealt with the G20 protesters.

Tony-O: It's the Pits
Terrific start to the competition. There is a lot to discover in this picture and there is a red and white theme to it.
It's in the frame (you did well to include it), the chef's work clothes, and, quite prominently in the letters.
(I'm surprised to see that you weren't dressed in red and white for this shot!) The photographer in the frame does add
to the appeal of this picture, I think. Well done!
Hyram: Corona Reflections
A pleasing first impression is made by these modern day car lights. Lot's of reflections, for sure, in this shot as well.
For me this good impression is not lasting too long, though, my eyes are wandering from left to right and back again without
getting captured at a focal point. There is the right circle to hold the wandering for a second, then it's off to the
strangely shaped contraption (indicator?) to the left of the middle. I wonder if there would have been a more pleasing angle
to take the shot.
Aiki: window to the world
A very good idea, reflections on different levels, the eye as a reflection of the soul, the reflection on the eyeball, the
two levels of windows you described. And what a wonderful blue eye it is, it makes me wish to see it more clearly, so much
of the iris lurks in the dark. The angle of view and general composition is good.
Where I am a bit disappointed is overall image quality. Most likely it's caused by using ISO400 and cropping at the same time.
You didn't use the longest focal length of the lens (EXIF says 42.5 mm) and I wonder why. You did very well to hand hold this
shot at 1/40 s and the sharpness seems to be there.
I think a tripod, lower ISO and a bit of light from below to lighten the dark areas would have made for a better picture.
And, of course, a macro lens might have helped.
beakynet: (Police reflection)
Good shot that had me puzzled for a moment. Nice "yellow" side theme going on with the pillars and the stripe on the car.
It would have needed a bit more care in post processing, though. I can see that you got the dividing line between reflected
and real world straight, but the building on top of the pillars is leaning a bit to the right and the black area to the right
is leaning a bit to the left. All things straightened, cropped a bit more on the right and top and it would have been a much
stronger picture.

This shot is radiating a tranquil mood, very pleasing, makes you to sit down here and stare in the little brook. The ripples
in the water are giving the reflections a impressionist touch. I do like the diagonal in the picture, what I don't understand,
though, is why the gutter and the far corner of the building are leaning to the right. I had a quick look at a straightened
version and I don't see that it is loosing anything important...
Dr. Mhuni: Mirror on life
The moment I saw the image I knew that only a very strong entry would be able to kick it from the top spot on the rostrum.
I love this shot, it invokes curiosity to what the story behind is. But it also is quite pleasing without knowing that. The
composition is brilliant, the out of focus background is a classic black and white picture and seeing the scene in the rear
view mirror connects the two worlds (b&w and colour). Bravo!
hefty1: Here comes the rain (flaming beetle)
This shot certainly has some pop. Wonderful colours in this one, I have the feeling, though, that these colours are overpowering
the reflections that try to be the theme of the picture but cannot compete with this excellent paint job. I would have cropped
a bit more off the top to loose the dark area (my choice would be just beneath the chrome grill part).
It's a shame that the angle of view does flatten one of the most iconic bonnets in car history (though I suppose that the
surroundings were not ideal for getting a shot more from the side).
mikew: (Motorcycle reflection)
Nicely done reflection on the tank of a wonderful machine. I like the fisheye-like effect of the reflections on the tank. An added
bonus is that the colour of the logo is the same as the motorcycle next to this one. What I don't like so much is the car in the
background of the reflection. It's different for the people looking at the cycles, they don't bug me at all.
gartmore: (New Oxford St. reflection)
That's the style again I like so much (I still remember your reflection image from the weekly competition). I don't like this
one as much as the other one, but I do like this one. A street scene with the woman perhaps reflecting on the words she hears
from her mobile call, the image of her reflected in the window of the coffee shop (?), the customer inside reflecting on the
busy street outside. The white vertical in the middle does distract a little, but this is a minor niggle.
This weeks winner: Dr. Mhuni: Mirror on life
Second place: Tony-O: It's the Pits
