Pete,

You've shown us some great photographs taken with that kit. Why are you selling it?

Regards,
The last time Pete sold his K10D he had a bill to pay. Probably it's a bigger bill this time so the extras have to go too.

He did George, and if I remember correctly, he bought another one within a week or so.

And the second one had just as much of a racket from mirror-slap, and the AF was just as slow...

And, dammit, the pictures were no better!!!

I am ogling his Metz though...

In fairness to Pete (and in case he didn't notice your wink), his pictures were often pretty good. He's definitely got some talent.

I've never disputed this.

It would be nice if everyone with talent such as that contributed to the forum's body of knowledge and helpfulness, as well as benefiting from it.

Forums are funny things. To quite a large degree, they are a reflection of the social/economic/educational status of the majority of members. People who don't/can't identify with the majority can feel excluded.

Pete was happy to pick our brains, but I suspect he never really felt at home here, hence his visits were of a business nature only, whereas for me and you, Chris, it's also a social thing.

Well I shall miss him, if he decides to go to the dark side (by which I mean switch to Canon - something I have a feeling he is going to do if he hasn't already done so).

I liked the lively debates that ensued whenever he posted something. I think maybe some of the reponses put him off a bit, made him feel less at home than he could have been, but that is, as George says, the nature of a forum.

I enjoyed seeing his photos and watching the progress he made - at an amazing tempo I might add.

I hope I'm wrong and that he is just raising the cash for the K20D, and will be back as a regular contributor.

I shan't be buying any of his gear though.

Edit: just read this through, sounds like he's died! Sorry Pete! Didn't mean it to come out that way. I wish you every success with whatever you are going to do - let us know please!

Death/Canon, same difference surely?

I just hope Pete doesn't regret his decision. His main gripe with the K10D as far as weddings were concerned was the noise, which he considered excessive. However, Benjikan never elaborated on his statement "This is a camera that is almost too quiet, if there is such a thing", and with extended dynamic range, I fear (for Pete's sake) the K20D may be perfect for weddings.

He did to me He said the shutter was so quiet he thought there was something wrong

Looks I'll be offloading some Pentax gear to pay for the K20D...
