For sale for parts or repair: Pentax K3 body

Sent my K3 body to SRS, who sent it to Pentax, who diagnosed faulty circuit board. Camera failed to start up. Been on going for 2.5 months or more. Pentax Germany cannot get export paperwork for spares. Thank you brexit. Body is in very good condition otherwise, about 21k on the clock. Any offers?

No offer but I've just sent mine to John Pye due to it overheating on the left side and it now overexposes everything. Frightened to think what the price of a repair might be. I was waiting to see what the k3iii was going to bring but it looks dead in the water so I'll repair what I have (maybe).

I came to the conclusion that all electronic cameras are doomed to fail and are largely not economically repairable - this is for all makes, not just Pentax. I gave away an istDS that had failed and was upset about it until you realise it is 15 years old ! There are few electronics that last that long (maybe old radios). The same goes for an old Canon, Nikon and Ricoh of various vintages.

All that said it would be interesting to hear if the camera is repairable at an economic cost.

Glad I've still got my ME Super around. I contacted SENDEAN CAMERAS who told me they only had parts for the K3ii. I bought a used K3 from WEX which has done 13000 clicks and I'm now setting it up. I'm quite pleased really as it only cost £77 more than the repair quote.

My *ists (D x 2 and a DS) are all working very well. I keep thinking about selling them .......but, er ....

I did pick up a perfect K100d to replace the istDS for the princely sum of £15 😊 I like the 6mp sensor magic , the viewfinder is ok on the K100d and user interface better.
