Forgive me sounding daft, but what's the attraction? I can see it says Pentax on it, and is tilt and swivel, but isn't it effectively a manual flash on DSLR, without PTTL? Presumably it can't act as a remote slave either?

Yes it's manual on the K5, intensity can be varied from 1/1 to 1/32.
It has a slave function and can act as slave in manual mode
Tilt and swivel:
up 0 45 60 75 90
to right 0 30 60 90 120 150 180
to left 0 30 60 90

Yes, it's a totally manual flash where modern Pentax DSLR's are concerned. It has no auto modes and not even the slave function works as it should because of the pre-flash from a DSLR.

It is however a powerful flash with controllable output, and it has a strobe function.

Used as a portable flash together with a radio trigger, it's awesome.

PS: I think we can expect to be told off shortly as we are not allowed to have these product discussions in Clssified Adverts Forum.

I have just bought the Sigma 610 from SRS as it was offered at only £125 is the Pentax a better flash?

This question isn't possible to answer, without knowing what you want to use it for.

If you want P-TTL, no. If you want a powerful, controllable, manual flash, with the ability to create strobe effects, yes.

See Mannesty's post above, it's as good a summary as you'll find.

At the risk of being told off I find PTTL sucks and prefer using manual anyway. I got one of these and often use it in preference to my AF360.
