These aren't for beautiful pictures this it what I do to record nature at work - so they are virtually unprocessed.

I've been keeping an eye on a chrysalis in my poly-tunnel for months now. At this stage I didn't know which butterfly was going to emerge.

Today the colouring had changed so I knew it wasn't going to be long before it emerged, and you can see from the pattern showing through what butterfly it becomes;

Here's one from a distance so you can see what sort of size it is;

Camera battery ran out and when it had charged and I got back to the poly tunnel I had an anti climax -

I'd missed the main event - and found the butterfly hanging nearby;

Does this mean you work as a nature photographer?

Hi Barrie,

No I don't work as a nature photographer - good heavens I wish.

I have a passion for nature and I keep note books, have done since I was a child, to learn about nature's little creatures. Used to be full of drawings but now I take photos instead.

The nature at work perhaps should have been in quotes 'nature at work' not my work but nature's work.

Kind regards
Charlotte

Thankyou,Charlotte.

These are beautiful.

I believe there is an intrinsic beauty in nature "at work".
But, when the standard of representaion by photography, or any other medium, is this high, I think there is an added layer, which our art & our craft supplies & it is this finished "co-operative" result that brings much joy to many people, including me &, I believe, you.

Again, thanks for the dedication &

Thanks for letting us see.

Roger.

Hi Charlotte, that was very unlucky timing with your battery, but you still got a great set of pictures here. Better luck next time!

By the way, did you get your K-r sorted out and if so what was the cause of the problem?

Whatever the reason, the results are wonderful. Even the cabbage white (until it produces those ghastly caterpillers just when my greens are coming into season). I've got a hawkmoth crystalis that I'm keeping an eye on, I found it on one of my Fuschia bushes, not sure its doing anythink though.

Thanks David,
I think the problem was a conectivity issue between the cheapo tubes and the camera-lens. I've taken the glass out of a 3 x tele converter and am using that instead of the tubes and I haven't had the problem occur since. (touch wood).

Thanks Bernard,

Keep watching it it'll be interesting to see which type of hawkmoth it is. I love all of the hawk moths and their caterpillars.
