Hello All,

My MX can not focus correctly at infinity. I think the mirror needs adjusment. Is it correct ? How can I fix it ?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,
Does this happen with all lenses? If not it could be a fault with the lens. If you take a photo with the lens at infinity of a distant subject and the photo is in focus, it is likely to be the mirror. The usual cause is a breakdown of the foam which acts as a mirror damper. This is the likely cause if the camera has never been serviced. The best cure is a CLA service. If the mirror foam has gone, it is likely the light seals are also failing and it could be the shutter will be slightly slow at the top speeds. This is best done by a proffessional and in the UK, it can be done for about £40.

Alternatively the focussing screen may have become displaced (it is interchangeable on the MX)

Hello Kim, hello Kevin,

Thanks for your advice. I found this problem on nine different lenses.
To tell you the truth, I have been thinking to send it to the shop for CLA and changing the light seals and mirror damper. It seems to me that the camera can't wait any longer. This lil' thing needs a revitalisation program.
