Focus on Imaging - good for deals ??

Are there good deals to be had at this show - or is it just a trade show with no actual sales taking place?

I'm still thirsting for the K5 !

There are sales taking place, but the last couple of times have seen a dramatic reduction in the number of freebies.

I think better deals can often be made after the show, in the cold light of day.

Looking at the retailers who are there I don't think you'll get prices anywhere near SRS. I doubt you'll be able to purchase off the Pentax stand.

Several of my best buys have been at the Focus show. Some large dealers do deals which ARE cheaper than even the 'cheap' internet prices. I have also bought very good priced used gear at the show.

Camera World (London) who have very competitive prices to start with usually have even cheaper prices at the show. Cecil Jacobs usually have prices lower than their normal ones and often cheaper than anywhere else (including SRS) and I have seen several well prices Pentax items each time I have been, but you really need to get there on the first day.

Two years ago I got a near mint & boxed DA 21mm for just over £200. Last year the K7 was available far below the then best UK prices. There are often many very cheap deals on tripods & especially bags.

I'll be stocking up on things like printer paper - there were good deals to be had with Ilford last year and I got a good deal on my Epson V600 Scanner too. I find it's more about accessories and peripherals than cameras and lenses personally - although I may pay closer attention with Pentax there this year.
