flash trigger questions [again I suspect]

a little bit of info please, having completely misunderstood what the "wireless"flash was all about I have purchased a couple of Metz flash guns only to discover to my disgust that the pop up flash on the K10d must still be used to trigger the remote flash and that the wireless part is just pttl info.
Since this also seems to mean the preflash goes of it stops me using any remotes that are triggered by flash as well, and means I have to use either manual exposure setting or a non A lens to avoid this.
Before I mess up any more I assume the wireless flash and trigger[s] that seem to be cheap or very expensive dependant on brand and source[ebay]are the answer.
Do these trigger and receivers purely act instead of the flash as a trigger and the wireless communication from the camera still pass pttl info to the Metz flash with these trigger and receiver units? Or am I again barking up the wrong tree?

Interfit and other manufacturers make IR triggers that sit in the hotshoe of the camera.

These will trigger studio flash, but you do need to check that they will trigger your Metz flashes.

The wireless triggers and receiver only use the middle contact so just the trigger. The only flash modes you can use on the flash are manual or auto.

btw P-TTL means Preflash Through The Lens I believe so you don't want to use that if you don't want the preflash.
