Hi,

naive question here. What is exactly a flash sync cable like this for: http://www.7dayshop.com/hama-coiled-flash-gun-synchronisation-cable-1-3m-006938?... ?

What I can guess is that with this I can connect the camera to the flash for off camera lighting, right?

If so I have just two questions:

1 - does it transmit TTL information or it just a trigger?
2 - I have a cheap remote trigger transmitter, which comes also with this cable. How should I use this cable with the trigger?

1)
No transfer of (P-)TTL, just the sync.
2)
Not sure about the trigger; you need to give a better description

If the trigger is just a transmitter, I assume that the cable needs to be connected to the PC socket of the camera.

If it's a receiver (basically a light sensor), it needsto connect to the flash. Assuming that your Metz58 does not have a PC socket, something like http://flashzebra.com/hotshoes-shoes/0065.shtml might do the trick.

nevermind, I think it's a way to activate the remote trigger..not sure why there are two options though.
