Flash Lead Connection Problems

Has anyone else had any connection problems using the 4P Sync Cord A? With the top connector screwed into the top "X" socket as far as possible, the bottom two contacts don't seem to be making contact with the corresponding brass contacts on the camera. Thus, the flash won't fire unless I physically press the connector in with my finger to make contact. Do I have an iffy cord?

It sounds "iffy". It is possible that the threads are crossed, or that there is dirt in them, and that this is preventing the plug from going all the way home. A little bit of judiciously applied force might help.

Thanks George, I'll give that a go. Although, in my experience, whenever I use "A little bit of judiciously applied force", something gets broken!

Problem.

I had left the flash cable attached to the camera until yesterday, when I was going to be taking some shots without needing the flash. I was removing the cable (with the pair of long-nosed pliers that I'd used to tighten it up) when the whole socket unscrewed from the camera body, breaking the solder connection. Bloody hell!

I do have a cable to attach the AF400T to the hot-shoe, but unfortunately it's the 5m long version, which might get a bit unwieldy. Hey ho.
