Flash Help

Hi All

First i have to say i know nothing about flash equipment and i apologise for the Minolta word.
I have been given some Minolta stuff.

1. Minolta program 2800 AF flash unit.
2. Minolta program 1800 AF flash unit.
3. 2 X off - camera shoe.
4. 2 X cable ex.
5. 1 cable oc.
6. 1 triple connector.

My main question is can this stuff be used with my Pentax K10D.
If so in what way. If not is E-Bay the answer

if they do manual (or have a sensor built-in for Auto..not ttl) and you can find a slave (optical or radio) that connects (some flash units have built in optical slaves) then yes, they will work with any camera.
get a couple umbrella stands, and have fun!

I went through a similar experience and I bought some cheap optical slaves off ebay for 6 quid each. These work fine indoors when the salves can see the flash or an IR transmitter on the top of the K10D but they just don't cut the mustard outside and you sometimes have problems if the slave sensor is not facing the camera.

So then I went down the ebay radio trigger route and I'm totally over the moon with them. Have a search for the Cactus V2s on ebay via the seller gadget infinity. A transmitter and receiver pack was about 17 pound and extra receivers are about 10 pound each. There are two versions the v2 and the v2s which work for lower voltage flash units. eg. Modern day units.

I'm not sure if i want to buy any flash gear, it's just that i've been given this stuf for nothing and i just thought that if it was ok then it would give me something to practise with. As i said before i know nothing about this type of equipment so i'm finding it difficult to understand the technical side. I would really like to know if these items are ok to use with my Pentax K10D.

I think that the Minolta shoe is different from Pentax and would probably not physically fit. I don't know what vintage the units are but personally wouldn't use them on my K10D. I don't mind being wrong though.
