I rather like that, you will often be advised to have the main flower less central but it seems to work okay here. What really stands out is the sharpness and the colours, and you've controlled the whites well. It's nicely lit too, although there is a slight blue cast to the rear flower. Personally I'm not so sure about the cut off top petal. All in all I think it's a good shot, and an excellent one if you're new to this!

Not bad at all. Would have taken a step back (or zoomed out a bit) to get that top petal in view. Thanks for sharing!

I love it! Would be over the moon to get a shot like tha. Just got my Tamron 70-300 yesterday, havent had time to play with it, but its heavy! Will have to get a sturdier tripod

That was shot with your tamron Kevin. It was lit from below with a household lamp, so possible the light would have greened through the leaves? I have another version with a quick auto colour adjust which looks better as the background is darker. Will upload another from a few inches further back.

Interesting. It is funny that when I received my K10D the first shot I took was:
It even made it into my PPG, lol.
They are very attractive plants to photograph.
Used:
K10D + DA 50-200 f4-5.6
Onboard Flash to overpower the ambient and darken the background.
The K10D was a birthday present from my parents.

I think the household lamp is what did it as I've never seen that lense exhibit green fringing at all.
Keep shooting Jamie .... the Tamron's 1:2 is fun isn't it ?

Yeah, I was pretty impressed, easy to get on with for the price! Bit unwieldy though, will probably look at getting some primes and dedicated macro lens when in the near future though, have caught the bug!
