First pics using my monopod

Having asked you helpful lot for advice on monopods I bought one (on offer - Manfrotto 681b + 234 head) and took it out for the first time today with my old manual focus 400mm lens - mixed results and much of the wildlife seemed to avoid me but still it was enjoyable.






















There were plenty of much worse ones

This was my first outing with the monopod so I was trying to concentrate on keeping it steady more than anything else.

I think they are very good indeed, some lovely sharp details in the feather and textures in the frost. Great work.

The rooster is great, I'd get rid of the stick that is poking out of the dunnocks head in the first one though.

Just ordered monopod thanks

Thanks guys - I'm off for another paly with that set up - just had lunch having returned form taking the little fella to football training - now its photo time )

Very good Stu, that lens looks pretty good. Lovely dunnock shot, apart from the stick behind.

Sorry Pentaxophile I didn't pick up on the lens comment

The lens is an old NPS 400mm f5.9 M42 preset mf lens - I bought it to see if I could be bothered carrying around a large heavy lens - to be honest I really like it although it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination it can still turn out some pretty decent shots

Now I have the monopod I plan to use this lens much more whilst hoping that Pentax bring out something similar at a price I can afford
