First Photos.

I finnaly got to properly play about with my camera today since it arrived in the week. I think i already said before that i am not a very experienced photographer but i am keen to learn which is why i chose to get the k10d above a entry level camera.

So i went out in the garden this afternoon and got these shots there not great because to be honest i am still a bit overwhelmed by all the settings and combinations i need for certain situations etc .

If anyone knows a website that explains stuff simply then that would be much appreciated like for example what iso,shutter speed,aperture etc combination should be used for what conditions.

I think i would get better results if i had a longer lens not that the kit lens isn't a good lens but considering i am trying to get wildlife my army style crawls down the garden can still only do so much Lol got some grass stains though .

Sound decision, IMO. You'll be limited by yourself, not by your equipment, which I think is the way it should be.
Do some simple Google searches on these things. There's a wealth of information out there but no single "teach me everything in words of one syllable" site. Sadly, teaching is no substitute for learning.

Certainly from the pictures you've published, you would benefit from a longer lens, so that the intended subjects occupy more of the frame.
Perfectly fine for now.

Welcome to wonderful world of (D)Slr photography!

Remember that shooting digital pictures costs next to nothing, so don't be afraid to experiment!

I did stumble across a website that carried a good basic tutorial, but I can't find it now! I'll post it later if I can find it. In the meantime, have a look at our "sister site" www.ephotozine.com they have a lot of tutorials there, and galleries of photos to inspire you.
