First K20D shot - Wells Cathedral

I've just upgraded to the Pentax K20D, this is my first shot taken in Englands smallest city - Wells, near Glastonbury

I have to say the detail the K20D captures is incredible

Nice shot Simon. Have you had any problems with shadow detail with the K20D? Doesn't seem as good as the K10D to me?

To be honest I haven't used the K20 long enough to spot any issues ... I wasn't aware that that it had any significant ones to be honest. I'm hoping it doesn't as the recovery of shadow detail was something I found a little disappointing with the GX10 - recovering detail produced quite a lot of noise & I was hoping the improved noise handling of the K20 would solve some of this?

I've read some comments about it not being too noticeable over the K10D/GX10 but my initial impressions are it's quite a lot better. I didn't like Iso800 on the GX10 whilst having just taken a few at ISO1600 onthe K20D I'm more than happy with them..ok there's a little noise but it's not obtrusive in any way.

I'm very impressed with the K20D so far..as I mentioned in my first post the level of detail it catches is very impressive, something that's again very noticeable against the GX10

I'm not sure what the difference is between dynamic range and tonal range but the K10D seems to have about 3/4 stop more dynamic range at 200 ISO
