I don't know if it is my imagination, but since Pentax returned my camera's K10D's and since my firmware update, it seems that my exposures are better. They don't seem as underexposed...

Ben,
Pentax have done this in the past with the *ist-D... flash exposure was drastically improved on that camera and it was never listed in the bug fix.

Could very well be the same with this firmware release.

(Wish they'd actually say what they've changed in the way of tweaks and attempts at improving, rather than mentioning only the things they know they have fixed completely.)

I have a feeling, that rather than expressing certain defaults in a system and stating that they will be solving them as a firmware update, companies address these problems without any form of communication to the public and they disappear as if they never happened in the first place, so new users never even knew they existed as an issue.

I've been having a look around on the 'net:
http://hobby9.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/dcamera/1171376737/l50

It's amazing what's out there Just wish I could read Japanese This might be a bunch of hackers reverse engineering the K10D and K100D... or it might be some Pentax engineers. I don't know!

From what I can see there's some debug stuff removed from 1.10, as well as numerous little tweaks.

Also a K100D disassembly: http://minase.on.arena.ne.jp/PENTAX/K100D/K100D/

And a K10D disassembly:
http://minase.on.arena.ne.jp/PENTAX/K10D/LED/

But it looks interesting

There doesn't appear to be too many (none) Samsung chips in there, does there.

Interesting though. Apart from the difference in the brightness of the blue lamp (mine's orange) I can't see the point of the last photo showing the card door latch ? ? ?

It's a Fujitsu media processor with an M-4 core. Found the datasheet on it too - makes interesting reading http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/EDG/binary/pdf/find/24-1e/3.pdf

And as you say, there's not much Samsung around... wonder now what the link was??

Having not yet got around to downloading the 1.10 Firmware update, presumably I can go straight to the 1.11 version and this will contain everything from both versions ?

Bablefish translates it! http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr

But not very well!

EDIT:

Here's a thought - Ben mentions better exposures - has anyone who has had problems with manual lenses, upgraded to 1.11 and re-tried their tests?

Firmware version 1.11 now safely installed It appears to be quite complicated but in fact is straightforward if you follow the instructions precisely. This is also true of the camera itself.
