Fireworks

How in the world do you take pictures of fireworks? These are the best of what I got last night:



ISO: 3200
Exposure: 1/125 sec
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55mm




ISO: 3200
Exposure: 1/180 sec
Aperture: f/4.5
Focal Length: 35mm




ISO: 3200
Exposure: 1/8 sec
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 40mm


Any tips on ISO settings or whatnot that might help in the future? I bumped ISO way up but maybe I didn't need to?
These are handheld - I followed the trail up then snapped the explosion. Anybody have a better method?

You need to use ISO100, bulb mode, a tripod, remote release, F8 and a zoom lens.

Make sure the lens is pre-focused and the camera is set to manual focus.

Open the shutter at the beginning of an explosion and close it when you feel it has reached climax.

One last thing, make sure black frame noise reduction is turned off or you miss half the shots!
