A very warm welcome Tim, very good choice, this is the place where I really started to learn about photography.

Many moons ago I used to do a bit of poor quality B&W and landscape photography for fun – lapsed for the last decade (or so!) through a combination of kids, work and unfortunate theft of camera. But once bitten... and over the last few years I’ve been increasingly hankering to give proper digital photography a try. Saved my pennies, and decided to take the plunge after xmas. Spent quite a bit of time researching options, but plumped for Pentax based on stuff gleaned from the forums, a mate’s advice that Pentax primes were the business, the fact that the K7 has WR and feels quality, and a sneaking suspicion that I’d fall in love with the Ltds.
Went for the K7 as it allowed me to also afford the DA 40 (the ‘glass first’ principle). Chuffed to bits with the K7 – wonderful to use – and simply amazed by the DA 40. Lots of new stuff to get to grips with in digital, but having a blast and already developing a bad case of LBA with particular designs on the other Ltds. Death for the bank balance , but you only live once....
Seems a terrific, helpful community here, by the way.
