FILTER QUESTION PLEASE

Hi guys, I've been looking at the Cokin filter system for my K10. Regardless of what filter system I end up with I initially would like to use a grey gradual density filter and a smokey gradual density filter. Both to use for landscape pics. I generally use my manual lenses and on occassion the kit 18-55 lens. With the Cokin system I can get the holder and then just get different size attachments for the lens, yes ?

My question is about the different types of holders e.t.c. Is there a particular size holder I need to choose ? I've noticed a difference in prices making me think there must be different types.

Hi Deryn,
Different sizes of holder hold different sizes of filters.
Once you decide which size of filter you want get a cheap holder of ebay.
The larger the filter size, the less chance of vignetting for a given lens, however prices of filters increase steeply as they get larger.
You should remember to get lens adaptors, these screw onto the filter thread of your lens then the filter holder atatches to the lens adaptor.
Have used these a few times and am happy to reccommend.

I tend to use cheap ebay filters, however you can spend much more on genuine Cokin or Lee, you pays your money and takes your choice

They also have sets of the holder and 3gnd filters.
There is with digital no need for a coloured filter I believe, you can adjust colour tints on the pc.
