Filter cleaning

Greetings, I recently purchased a second hand Hoya HMC UV filter from eBay. The filter arrived with what I would describe as a slight haze and generally needed cleaning. So I used a cleaning “swab” which is used for the cleaning of spectacles. The result was a clean filter. My question is, will this affect the HMC coating on the filter or will this have damaged the overall effectiveness of the filter?
Thank you for your consideration.

Most spectacle cleaning swabs and wipes are designed to be effective on coated lens and not impact on their effectiveness - I can't give you a guarantee but I'm pretty certain that if the filter looks clean and is not smeary then it will perform as it was meant to

My spectacles have coatings which do the same job as coatings on filters and lenses. I use the same specialist cleaners to clean bothspectacles and camera lenses and filters. No harm appears to have been done to any of them. In fact, the lens cleaning fluid I use if something is really greasy explicitly says that it is suitable for both spectacles and camera lenses.

I would suggest a blower brush to clear any large particles/dust and then either a disposable lens cleaner (Zeiss seem to be the best of the ones I have used) or a spray cleaner and microfibre cloth, in which case spray onto the cloth and then clean the glass. I have had one or two filters with what seems to be crazing in the coating internally. I think these are two piece of glass in one frame and the two glass pieces have become separated. Seems to happen with Nikon filters, not Hoya or Pentax in my experience.
