Film Scanning problem.

Hello i just bought a Canoscan 700f to scan my films but im having a strange problem when scanning.
The scanned image isnt right, has anyone encountered this problem?

i've googled and went on to canons support site.
played with the settings. still the same.

Can you explain how it isn't right compared to the original?

I'll try and explain it as best as i can.
As you can see from the above image that its very dark and the lines in the middle of the frame and also how the lights is inconsistent from the top to bottom.

I have an Epson V500 which has a technology called ICE. This can't be used with B&W films as it turns anything close to black into a block of solid black, as well as some other problems. If your scanner has something similar, it could maybe be due to that.

Yes, i think Jonathan is right. I am the owner of Epson V500. Actually it is not so easy to make quality scan of B&W negatives. Canoscan has similar technology called Qare. Check if you can turn off "Automatic QARE dust and scratch removal" and try it...
