Its a nice looking guitar, rather unevenly lit by an artificial source. Not much to assess really without further details of the set-up and what you wanted to achieve. Maybe some alternatives with different lighting angles would be a good idea, to get feedback.

A repost to see if it is any better, I think I might have put to heavy a vignette on the last one.

Thats more even The light source appears to be from above, as a bit harsh across the top of the guitar body - do you have the option to diffuse the light somehow - this might also spread it out a bit more softy.

I'm assuming you're experimenting here with some new gear - so far so good! What is the lighting equipment you are using?

I think the fundamental problem here is that there is a hotspot half way up the bottom of the case which draws the eye as does the embossed Fender logo on the case. So it isn't just a picture of a guitar; does the guitar have a pearlescent finish? If so, that works very well.

I think this composition would work a lot better if rotated 90deg CCW

That means right doesn't it? I've seen these letters in PS 'rotate' dialogue - left is CW I think. Does anyone know what they stand for? In PS Elements its made a bit more intuitive - the buttons are labeled 'left & 'right'.

I've started to use PS CS2 (now available free) and when I first saw this I couldn't work out if was the same thing.

It's the other way

CW is clockwise, CCW is counter clockwise

Brilliant! Many thanks - good to have that sorted out I suppose 'left' & 'right' is not all inclusive - left is only counter-clockwise if you're upright I suppose?

Hi thanks for the comments, the main light on the guitar was flash diffused with an umbrella, the bit of light causing a hot spot was my attempt to skim light across the Fender logo to make it stand out. This was done by hand holding another flash, I probably should have tried to diffuse it more. It is early attempts at using off camera flash which is a lot of fun but throws up different issues along the way. The pic was originally taken vertically but I moved it to horizontal so I could use it as my Facebook cover Lol! By the way the guitar finish is pearlescent slightly more cream than pure white.

The lighting seems to work well in relation to the guitars colour and reflections from the surface. The pearl tone and browns come through very nicely. My own preference would be for a wider spread of light, cast completely evenly across the whole image.
