That's a real rarity. A photo of yours I don't like. I don't like the dark bottom quarter - I would have preferred it substituted for more sky. Highlighted parts of the sky, particularly around the Sun, look odd to me. I think there's potential for a very good shot here but this isn't it for me. Sorry.

I have to agree. I like the composition of the top half, but not the effect. The bottom is just too dark, nothing happening there.

Thanks Doc, Fr Ted and Jon. I've looked at it anew, I can see what you mean re the crop / proportion of sky to the rest.
I've also re-checked the original raw image side by side with the processed image: same sky, including around the sun. I wish I knew a way I could post the raw file so you could see what I mean. It may have been the veil of cloud haze in front of the sky that changed the colours - not sure. Perhaps I need to experiment with WB...
I took another (opportunistic) shot on the way back on the same evening, after the sun had set.
I will post that in another thread, as I would be interested in hearing from you about the sky in that too (albeit sans soleil)

The foreground is way too dark on my monitor leading to an unbalanced shot. Shame, as it has great potential. Bring back colour print film with its exposure latitude! (Not really.)

Thanks Andrew & Puma, this may have been better done as HDR, as courageously (and successfully IMO) demonstrated by MikeP...
