There's got to be a reason for this. We have two K-5s and neither shows any tendency to gather dust, so where does the difference lie?
The only thing I can suggest from the scant information given is that maybe something in the lens is being drawn into the camera body when zooming. Or maybe there's some manufacturing debris in the body that keeps settling on the sensor. There shouldn't be, but there must be something going on to cause this.

Down at the Foxglove Covert meet last weekend,4 of the gathered clan had the K5. I've been on the edge in the buying stakes for some time now, will I ,won't I?.....it's a tough decision, and I still can't make my mind up!.The size bothers me,it is very small,I would need to purchase the grip as well, that would set me back another £219...wow!.Another factor is the quality control, out of the 4 K5's ,all had been returned, and replaced by new cameras!....One member is on her 4th!,2 with staining issue's,and one with a sensor that was a magnet for dust,so bad that she has the DA 300 on it ,and dare not take it off!.I think I will just stick with my K20 for the moment!

I've had mine just 4 weeks, superb piece of kit, well pleased with IQ and the ISO flexability is stunning, only used it to 8000 iso at the moment but will try 12500 soon.
I do have a stubbon dust bunny on the sensor, prob come from inside that I can't shift, tried wet and dry cleans.
Cheers

Is the sensor cleaning gadget working ok?
Seems very strange that it attracts some much crud unless its present inside the mirror box and just gets recycled

I've had to clean mine twice. The first time I used swabs, as I'd heard the Butterfly could make things worse the first time. After that I used my Butterfly. I also have the Butterfly loupe which has made a difference - I can be absolutely sure I have all the bunnies.
This camera (my second) seems to be fine. I have heard from others that they have a dust magnet though.
I never feel (or hear) the sensor cleaning on mine btw - I did on the K20 but not on the K-5.

Just to sure (and I don't wish to be rude) but you are using the Arctic Butterfly correctly, ie you don't have it turned on when it is in the camera?

Perhaps you were unlucky to have some particularly sticky pollen get in there? or tiny oil drop from a lens perhaps?
In contrast I used to regularly have to wet swab the sensors on my K10D and K20D. I bought my first K-5 in January and my second in March. I have never had to clean the sensors yet. And I've taken the cameras in some dirty environments ( urban exploration and stock car meets ) and done several lens changes. I think I did notice a tiny dust spot on one of them the other day, but It's either been shifted by the sensor shake on start up or masked by the image itself
I'm actually suprised by this after having to regularly clean the K20D/K10D

This time arctic butterfly first and then four sensor swabs...i will need to win the lottery to pay for the swabs i am using if this keeps up
and yes i am careful when changing lenses, though at the moment my sigma 17-70 stays on most of the time.
