Faulty kit, must have the magic touch!

Went over to SRS today to exchange my faulty Metz 58, came up with a zoom error, and wouldn't communicate properly with the camera. As usual, great service, straight swap no questions asked. Bought another one for Fiona's kit bag as well, so we are going to be having fun playing with them both on wireless!

Obviously while I was there (especially after yesterday's whinge!), ended up having a quick play with the K20. Also asked if I could have a look at the DA*300, put it on the camera, took a test shot, had a look and just couldn't believe how poor it was! Tried again, then noticed it focus well, then when it locked it was out of focus, Chris pulled that funny confused face, swapped batteries, tried again, same thing. That's alright Chris I'll just manual focus it on the fly he says confidently, then noticing that the focussing barrel did absolutely nothing! Same thing on another body, so 1 dead lens to go back!

Must admit, even though my only experiences of buying from abroad have been very positive, today has definately made me think twice about ordering from abroad again, and yet again proves how invaluable a good relationship is with a local dealer. Don't mind too much driving 20 miles to sort it out, but sending boxes half way round the world isn't my idea of fun!

BTW price rises are also coming on Tamron and Metz products too, so if you need them, don't hang about. And yes, before you ask, I did end up getting a deal on the K20, but I'm just not sure who twisted who's arm?

I also decided to buy a K20 body from Chris yesterday to beat the price rises. Hopefully it will arrive today.

Chris sounds a bit like our local guitar shop owner - my OH goes there to buy new strings and comes away with a new guitar more often than I care for - I buy the strings now - and even then I ended up buying a guitar for my son because he went with me one time
