Canikonony mounts only, no PK. Production run just 100 lenses. (And 3kg = 6.6lbs.)

If you feel bad about it we do have a current Pentax lens that is dearer: https://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/hd-pentax-da-645-28-45mm-f45-ed-aw-sr.h...
Also the Pentax DA 560mm isn't far behind.

Itís massive! cinegearpro.co.uk but no K mount. They do have a more modest 35mm K mount though but we are more spoiled for choice at that size.

The lens they've pictured is a pre-production prototype so until the production lenses appear its all supposition. So maybe AP and others got it wrong, maybe they haven't. Time will tell. Better start saving just in case! However, if you check the ordering page it's just the three mounts though: http://www.zyoptics.net/product/pre-order-mitakon-speedmaster-135mm-f1-4/ (no Pentax.)

If you check the sample photos on DPR I can't see anyhing special that couldn't be done with a more modest lens. https://www.dpreview.com/sample-galleries/8958190061/mitakon-speedmaster-135mm-f...

For that kind of price you can buy the A* 135mm f/1.8 and have money left over for a 'normal' portrait lens like the FA77.

and the A* weighs in at under a kg. Can't really think why the extra half stop makes the Mitakon so much heavier.

Half a stop of light extra should make the glass weigh around 1.5x (give or take) more than what the A* glass weighs. The rest will be in the metal design to avoid decentering from the smallest bumps.

The lens design is probably quite different especially if they've got corrective elements.

F/1.4 v f/1.8 in practise on digital no difference apart from appealing to people who like to throw away money and tick lists.

Nothing to do with Pentax anyway.

In that case Algi, convince me not to buy the A* 135mm!

Has anyone owned this one?

Buy two and use them as bookends

My favourite 135mm is a Schacht Ulm Travenar 135mm f/3.5
I always like German made lenses

I have resisted the 70-200mm because 135mm would cover that area for me at much less weight and have been browsing, so it is serendipity that this thread has come. Lenses I never knew existed! There are a couple of A*135mm f1.8 lenses on the US eBay at four figure sums which I donít know whether reflect quality or rarity. Clearly itís time Ricoh got their skates on with rolling out the new primes!

Samyang have a 135mm f/2 in Pentax fitting that is worth a look if you're after a quality super sharp lens. It's said to be up there with the A*, but obviously a star lens is something else.

Mitakon? Back in the 1980's I had a poor quality 28-80? zoom lens by Mitakon that was all I could afford at the time. Not good at all. I am surprised they are applying that brand name to high price items now.

But what's in a brand name? Companies buy brand names all the time.

It's fair to say though that there are some very interesting lenses coming out from China and Korea and other places and many of them are available in Pentax fit. A 135mm f/1.4 has to be worth looking at, so I'll remain hopeful that one will at some time turn up to have a look at.
Best regards, John
