Farne Islands Part 3

Much appreciate the feedback everyone.

Not long after I started shooting wildlife, I took a shot of an Arctic Tern on my first visit to The Farnes. I loved it so much I got it put on canvas. As my photography improved I realised it didn't have a catchlight in its eye. This bugged me for the next 12 months, I kept threatening myself that I was going to tippex a catchlight in. I eventually took the canvas down.

So, that is the background to me using fill flash. I've never used it on any other wildlife, just these terns at this location. Used it the last couple of years, but it's really difficult to get everything right with a bird within 3 feet. So, I'm really pleased with what I managed this year.

I would think those viewing your work are just as pleased Alan.

The ones with flash in particular Alan are wonderful, the flash has given the images fabulous detail and colours. Superb set of images.

Thanks David, Gareth, and Gary once again. Still very happy with some of these. Usually within a couple of weeks I start thinking, if only ......

I'm not a bird photographer but I can really appreciate these first class images. You can see more of Alan's work if you click on his PPG link. PPG seems to have ground to a halt but all the galleries by members are still there to be viewed.

There seems to be a lot of BIF that did not make the bin, Alan

Thank you David. Much appreciated. Haven't put anything in the PPG for possibly 3 years. It used to be a thrill to get an acceptance. But sadly the standard seemed to drop.

Cheers Barrie. Believe me plenty of half terns went into the bin
