Facebook and Twitter

Why, these so called social sites cause more problems than the time it takes to "join" them. Only morons ask people to become members of these sites. I am extremely dissappointed that this site has fallen to these depths.

Can do, but that overlooks that a lot of people use them very successfully to keep in touch with friends and relatives that they would otherwise hardly ever have contact with. Thus groups can stay in touch where previously they would all have disappeared off the radar.

Like all things, it can have a downside but when used carefully it can be of great benefit.

Arguably calling people morons isn't excatly a position from higher ground!

I think that comment is a tad OTT.

No-one is asking you to join them - it's a personal choice.

I know that some camera manufacturers are using Twitter to get feed back from people , and Black Rapid Straps are doing a daily give away on their Twitter feed .

Facebook - well I have absolutely no inclination to use it - but many do

As someone who loathes Social Networking sites, I should agree with the OP.

But I don't. Using the media to best advantage can only be a sensible move, regardless of my own inclinations to actually read or view such sources.

While I am unlikely to ever sign up to twitter, if the Pentax User team wish to use it, more power to them, just don't expect me to follow them or become a tweeter, or whatever it is the cool kids say these days.

I have no inclination to join either, but can see the benefits, and downsides of both.

My husband is on FB.
He rarely posts anything but enjoys reading others walls. He keeps me posted on the goings on of my nieces and nephews, and now of my daughter-in-law on her travels in OZ.
Indeed without FB we would not know how a friend of ours in the US is progressing in her battle against total kidney failure - her niece posts a regular update on FB.

My brother (who is drawing his pension, and in many ways a total Luddite) is a member of both and loves them as he has friends around the world he can keep in touch with, without having to Skype them always.

No one forces you to join, and one forces you to be that active on them.

I can't see the problem with PU being on both - it may even attract more members to the forum!
