FA 35/2

I guess Iīm a bit "prime-fixed" īcause I always end up looking at the FA 35/2 in the Pentax listing when planning for lenses for my K10D to be.

Anybody here who have experience with it?

And to be honest, I donīt plan too much for the DA lens line, as I want my gear to interchange without limits. Digital to Analog and vice vesa....

Am I on the wrong track here?

Thank you,

Hi Mats

I guess I'm kind of on the same spirit... the FA 35/2 was also one of my favorites, but now I'm looking more to the 31mm Limited and the FA 28mm F/2.8 AL as a cheaper alternative.

The 28mm is the 43mm Limited "equivalent"... in "film", if you calculate the diagonal of the image frame you will reach something like 31mm (sqrt(24x24 + 36x36) = 43.3). That's what Pentax says is the true normal for 36mm film.

In digital, that comes to 28mm, or sqrt(16x16 + 24x24) = 28.8. To be honest , if I go through my fotos, most end up around these numbers. The majority are 31mm spot on. I say that's a sign of things to come!

Have fun!

Hello Oscar and thanks for your input. I think you have a point.

Most of my images are shot with a normal prime (50mm analog) and I guess thatīs something that Iīve grown into since way back. I might be old fashion, but I really enjoy the speed and the results of the primes and I seldom use the only zoom (A 35-105/3.5) I have, even though itīs pretty good.

Oh yes, I have peeped at the 31/1.8, no wonder. Itīs just that I can get both the K10D and a 35/2 for just a little bit more than what the 31mm Limited is, so finances har a bit do do with it. Maybe in he future....

This is a great wee lens and my most used.
I used to have a film SLR and enjoy my 50FA 1.4. But with the 1.5x factor, I decided to get the 35 / 2. This was one of the best decisions I ever made! It is a great size and weight and produces some nice sharp images. A lot of the super nerds on the forums also rave about its cost v results. Definately consider this lens before buying a limited, especially if you are on a budget like me and want best bang for buck and arent pro.

can't comment on the Pentax offering, but I use a Zeiss Flektogon 35mm F2.4 with my *ist and despite the inconvenience of using M42 lenses on the *ist it is still my single favourite lens.

you can't go wrong with a 35mm on a DSLR, you will love it!

I have no experience with the Flek 35/2.4, but I read quite a bit about it on another forum I like to visit. I have the 20/2.8 and I enjoy it. Will probably be used some on the K10D.
