Whilst trawling the net looking for service sheets and information for a *istDL I came across very little.

What I did come across was, sometimes interesting, sometimes use-full but more often than not a dead-end requiring an out lay of several dollars.

I eventually found PDFs for the *ist range, as well as the K100/110 and K200, a parts list for the K20 and that was it.

If anybody has other PDF sheets and instructions should we make them available to forum users, or is that a bad idea?
Cheers, HG

When referring to other sites, a link would be useful.

... and in some cases may get you into hot water (copyright!).

Google is (sometimes) a wonderful thing.... especially the archive.

I came across the Pentax Hacks site and struggled to get the files to open, they seem to be OK at the moment.

Unfortunately for our GX users the PDFs for their cameras have been removed.

As the files originate from Pentax then the copyright must surely be theirs Bret?

If anyone finds a site with the GX ones it would be interesting to see what insight they give into how the cameras are set up. For instance some of the Pentax ones tell you how the exposure meter is checked and to what tolerances. They actually use PS Elements to read the mid-grey value. It shows 110 as the value they work to. If that's 110R 110G 110B it's close to a 12% grey card, which is normal for a meter with a k value.

Another manual tells you how they check the Green focus diamond using a 50mm f/2.8 macro lens and what the tolerances are.

Searching for the ones I found was frustrating, user manuals come to light all over the web, but service and parts documents are few and far between.

There is a lens focus test chart in the back of some of the
manuals. I think version 2 is the latest. Not really any
advantage of the other test charts though.

Please note that the site linked to is a hacking site and is not of pentax origin.

You mess with this at your own peril.

As it appears in the above posts, I am fully aware that this is a hacker's site, and that the responsibility lies entirely by the user. I was just responding to Peter's request for a link.

But this is where the info on how to put the camera in Debug mode came from.
Best regards
Terry

As well as a couple of Service documents.

I don't think anybody will mistake it for an official Pentax site John, we're much too bright for that...

...aren't we?

I've removed the manuals I had from my web-space now.

I currently have service manuals for the *istD series, K100 and K110, K10, K200d and K20d service sheets.

If any body needs/wants copies they can contact me and I'll give them a link to download the files. I won't be leaving them on my web-space permanently though.

Cheers, HG
