expand - Local Groups and Meetings Section

Local Groups and Meetings section on this forum is the least active one i believe while the General Chat is the most busiest one so maybe we can move some topics over to the Local Groups and Meetings section if we expand the coverage.

I'm not thinking about something radical but sometimes in the General Chat things are posted about places and events, wouldn't it be possible to move those under Local Groups and Meetings section if we change the definition slightly?
Maybe something like Places to Meet or Go to give you a very simply idea...

What do you think about this, all comments are welcome
If most find this a good idea and the mods approve we also need a new name for it so any ideas about that because mine is awful

What I would find useful is if more people just said where they were off to with an invite to tag along if we wanted to join them.

Just simple stuff like 'off to xxxxxxxx nature reserve Sunday, anyone fancy coming along?' or 'car meet at xxxxxxx, this weekend, let me know if you're coming.'

Did try this once when I was out shooting a lot of red kites and knew it was a long shot with it being a monday, but there was some interest so maybe it's a good idea.

Now if someone wants to suggest 'fancy joining me on sunday for some guaranteed kingfishers in bucks area', please feel free!

In that event it might be an idea to make this an area accessible only to registered members. Then more could be said more openly if Google et al weren't broadcasting every post. Just a thought ...

That would indeed be fun but the UK is a bit too far for me.
I believe we have some kingfishers in the biesbosche so if you want to shoot them with someone give me a call

This already of course can be done now but would like to have all of the place related topics in one place to make this kind of thing easier but also to clean other topics up a little bit... the general chat section is such a mess

Things like webinars should also be able to be placed there as well.

Hi Danny, where in Bucks do you get kingfishers? And how far do you usually get to shoot them from? I have been looking for them and the place I know up in North London you really need longer than 500mm ideally.
For some of these and if the weather is appropriate I would definitely tag along

You may have missed the point, I don't know!

Sat at a location for 4 hours on Monday where one was spotted the week before, but no luck!

This is why I'm seeking out known locations, so if you have one, let me know so we can tag along as I've now got a 600mm to play with!
